Delano Visit Reaffirms Commitment to Farmworker Justice

New Video Series Sharing Farmworker Testimonials Launches Today

LOS ANGELES, CA – Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez traveled to Delano, California last week—the birthplace of the United Farm Workers movement—at the invitation of United Farm Workers President Teresa Romero.

During her visit, Councilwoman Rodriguez met directly with farmworkers and heard firsthand their experiences, challenges, and hopes for the future of the labor movement. Beginning this afternoon, those testimonials will be shared through a month-long video series across her social media platforms, with each installment highlighting the stories of the workers she met.

“I’m grateful to the farmworkers who welcomed me and shared their stories, offering a firsthand account of the challenges they face every day to feed our communities,” said Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez. “Having a father who labored in the fields as a young man, it’s disheartening to hear the stories of the inhumane working conditions that continue to exist. Their determination is a powerful reminder that we must continue fighting to protect these essential workers as they work in grueling conditions that we all depend on.
