LOS ANGELES, CA – CLos Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez delivered remarks
and issued the following statement calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to sign Assembly Bill
2319 into law following its passage by the State Legislature. Councilwoman Rodriguez’s
resolution establishing the City’s official support for the legislation passed unanimously earlier
this year:
“My resolution enshrined our City’s official support for AB 2319 because our local workforce cannot afford to keep losing middle-class jobs to other states and countries. With the Legislature’s passage of AB 2319, we are one step away from establishing California’s first standalone post-production tax credit to support bringing more of this vital work back home.
“I want to thank the bill’s author, Assemblymember Nick Schultz, for his steadfast leadership in authoring this legislation, as well as the entire Los Angeles State Legislative Delegation for prioritizing this critical investment in our local economy.
“I strongly urge Governor Newsom to sign this bill into law, complete our state’s tax incentive landscape, and protect the skilled trades that form the backbone of Los Angeles’ creative economy.”
