LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the Los Angeles City Council voted to place a Charter amendment
before voters that would double the City’s minimum funding commitment to parks over the next
decade. Councilwoman Rodriguez, who worked with her colleagues to advance the compromise
proposal, issued the following statement:
“Today’s vote in support of my Charter amendment is a monumental win for families and
neighborhoods across Los Angeles.
“Los Angeles ranked 93rd out of the nation’s 100 largest cities in the Trust for Public Land’s most
recent ParkScore rankings. That is unacceptable.
“Angelenos deserve safe, clean, and well-maintained parks, which is why I am proud to have
worked with my colleagues to build support for a responsible compromise that puts a long-term
investment in our parks before voters this November.
“Investing in our parks is investing in the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of every Angeleno.”
