Press release

Los Angeles, CA –  Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez invites the public to the Fourth Anonymous Fireworks Buyback Program in an effort to encourage fireworks to be turned in. This ongoing effort was introduced by Councilwoman Rodriguez in collaboration with  Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department, after listening to constituent concerns regarding the hazards associated with illegal fireworks. Since the program’s launch in 2021, nearly a ton of illegal fireworks have been voluntarily surrendered in exchange for gift cards.

With the 15,000 acre Post fire burning near Gorman, and numerous other wildfires erupting in the greater Los Angeles area, it’s a reminder of the  environmental, financial and traumatic impacts these fireworks pose in the City of Los Angeles.

All press are invited to attend for media coverage.
