The celebration continues! 🇲🇽🎉
I was proud to join Councilmember Imelda Padilla at City Hall for this year’s El Grito! For more than two centuries, El Grito has marked the beginning of Mexico’s fight for independence. Here in Los Angeles, it has become a tradition all its own, bringing the spirit of Mexico to City Hall year after year.
This year’s El Grito was one to remember, and next year, we’re doing it the CD7 way. Stay tuned!

🌱 There’s so much growing right here in CD7! I recently stopped by the Theodore Payne Foundation in Sun Valley to learn more about their work connecting Angelenos with California native plants.

When I led the charge to make LA the first city in the nation to legally ban ALL city employees from moonlighting with federal immigration enforcement, the goal was clear: while the federal government continues to betray public trust, cities should be the guardians.
Now, cities like Santa Ana are taking key steps to follow our lead by advancing their own local bans.
