Thanks to weekly community drives, my team identified an abandoned vehicle in Pacoima. We quickly worked with city departments to remove the vehicle from the public right of way. Removing this abandoned vehicle makes room for operable vehicles to park and eliminates a neighborhood hazard before it becomes a greater nuisance.

I am proud to support community events that spread holiday cheer and also help those in need. The Drive-Thru Holiday Giveaway event will take place on Saturday, December 14 from 1-4 PM, hosted by the Khalsa Foundation, Young LA, Foothill Police Division, and my office. I had the privilege of attending the 92nd Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade which showcased the best of LA! It was a joy to celebrate the holidays in the heart of Hollywood highlighting our signature entertainment industry while supporting the U.S. Marines Corps Toys for Tots Program. This free community event marked its 92nd anniversary and I look forward to celebrating this tradition for many years to come!

I created Operation Bright S.P.O.T. (OBS) to complement city resources, to beautify commercial corridors in our community, and to respond quickly to blight. OBS recently removed overgrown weeds/vegetation and power washed sidewalks in Mission Hills, Pacoima, and Tujunga, improving the areas for small businesses and pedestrians and beautifying our communities.

I share the frustrations and concerns of residents regarding the health and safety hazards RVs pose in our neighborhoods. My team partnered with LA Sanitation, LAPD and LADOT to remove 7 abandoned RVs. In Pacoima, we removed 1 RV near Glenoaks Blvd and Montague and 2 more from Sutter Ave and Van Nuys Blvd. In Sylmar, we removed 1 RV from Foothill Blvd and Maclay and 3 additional RVs from Maclay and Gladstone St.

I know many families in our communities face food insecurity, and with the holidays often revolving around shared meals, it can be especially difficult. With the support of my dedicated team and community partners, I distributed turkeys and sides to 750 families in need throughout Council District 7. This annual tradition is one of my favorites, as it allows us to connect with community members and provide direct support. Together We are ONE LA.

Last week, in partnership with StreetsLA, we broke ground on an important project to improve Hubbard St. in Sylmar. The work includes sidewalk and ramp upgrades at Hubbard St. and Dronfield Ave., sidewalk repairs at Hubbard St. and Glenoaks Blvd., and a new sidewalk and other infrastructure improvements at 13755 Hubbard St. These improvements are significant investments in Council District 7 and will support safe passages to school, work and home. Thank you to the community members who worked with my office to make these improvements a reality!

It was an honor to announce the 92nd Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 1 at 6 PM. This event celebrates holiday traditions while supporting the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program. As the daughter of a Marine, I’m especially proud to support this important cause and encourage you to visit toysfortots.org to learn how you can participate.

It was also a pleasure to meet Vartan, Sona and Alex from the Gevorkian Dance Academy, an Armenian dance group who has been preserving cultural traditions in Los Angeles for almost 30 years, and will be participating in the parade.

Thank you to all the community members that joined us for the Horse License & Microchip event at Stetson Ranch. Hundreds of community members joined us in celebrating our rich culture and traditions while providing important resources that ensure the safety of our pets and animals. At the event 69 horses, dogs, and cats were microchipped.

At the event the Bureau of Engineering also shared plans regarding park improvements at Stetson Ranch. Stay tuned as we make progress to enhance one of the best equestrian assets in the City!

Recently, Team MRod joined a sold-out audience at USC’s Artsakh Uprooted: Aftermaths of Displacement symposium, dedicated to raising awareness for Artsakh. Organized by the USC Institute of Armenian Studies, this meticulously curated event brought together scholars, artists, and community leaders to highlight the displacement and cultural erasure endured by the Armenian people of Artsakh.

Through thoughtful panels, artistic performances, and personal stories of resilience, the symposium shed light on the trauma and hope carried by generations affected by war and displacement. From discussions on intergenerational resilience to conversations about preserving language and culture, Artsakh Uprooted offered both healing and a call to action, reminding all present that the fight for justice is ongoing.

Thank you to USC Institute of Armenian Studies for creating this powerful space for remembrance and advocacy.

Today, Congressman George Whitesides joined me to survey the impact of the Hurst Fire to assess the damage firsthand. I appreciate his commitment to securing federal support to restore the area and exploring ways to better protect these vulnerable regions in the future.

A special thank-you as well to the incredible men of the USDA Forest Service, including our very own David Rodriguez who lives in Sylmar. Their dedication and hard work have been instrumental in keeping our community safe.

Thank you! Today I also saw your clean up team in Shadow Hills on Wentworth!!!! So much illegal dumping on the side of the road. Are they also addressing the burnt trees in the wash from the 2017 Creek Fire? Was genuinely excited when I saw the team and their red trucks - THANK YOU!
