Represent LA

RepresentLA provides legal representation to non-citizens, in custody or in the community, who face deportation, and to vulnerable individuals seeking affirmative immigration relief.

The Departments of Veterans Affairs and Immigration and Naturalization Service have not provided a guaranteed path to permanent citizenship for many veterans which has led to the wrongful deportation of many who honorably served our country.

This is a national problem that affects countless non-citizen veterans. As the daughter of a wartime Marine who was granted citizenship after honorable discharge, it was my priority to fight for a local solution. It was infuriating to see veterans being exploited and deported, and that is why I fought for the $250,000 allocation for Veterans as part of our RepresentLA program.

I want to ensure our veterans get the representation and protection they need. I believe that after selflessly protecting us, we should give our full consideration and allocation of limited resources to the men and women who serve our country.

Summit View Apartments

The Summit View Apartments are a 49-unit permanent supportive housing project for veterans experiencing homelessness. It officially opened in July 2023 and is located in Lakeview Terrace. The facility provides a fitting home for veterans who have served our nation. I was a dedicated advocate for this project, assisting in navigating the development process and securing additional funds to ensure public-serving features such as sidewalks and street lighting were included. The project was developed on city-owned surplus land.

As the daughter of a Marine and a Vietnam War veteran, I understand the struggles veterans face when seeking services. The Summit View Apartments provide veterans with the support they deserve. It’s a special place that welcomes them home with a great view. This project exemplifies the power of unity and collective action for lasting community-based housing solutions.
