3rd Annual Drone Light Show Illuminated San Fernando Valley

800 drones lit up the sky

Los Angeles, CaliforniaCouncilwoman Monica Rodriguez’s 3rd Annual Drone Light Show featured a breathtaking spectacle characterized by the coordinated flight of 800 drones accompanied by music, revolutionizing how communities honor  Independence Day with images paying tribute to Los Angeles and the inherent beauty of the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

The free event gathered nearly six thousand attendees at Hansen Dam Soccer Fields to enjoy the most recent advancements in drone technology, akin to that experienced at venues such as Disneyworld or Dodger Stadium. Community members experienced a world-class Drone Light Show, without the necessity of leaving their community and spectators from all over the City also joined the event, underscoring its appeal for all.

Councilwoman Rodriguez pioneered drone shows as an alternative to fireworks in the City of Los Angeles for social, environmental, and public safety reasons. Drones promote better air quality, reduce fire risk in a high fire hazard severity zone and trauma to household pets and veterans with PTSD.

Since its inception in 2021, TheDrone Light Show has quickly become a popular and much-anticipated Independence Day tradition in Los Angeles.

During the day, attendees enjoyed various activities such as local vendors, food trucks, resource booths, a Kids Zone by Discovery Cube, and live musical performances by DJ Royelle, Groovy MS, The Flamenco Souls, and St. Paul and the Minneapolis Funk All-Stars.

“I am proud to have been the first in our city to pioneer this technology to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, in a way that the entire community can enjoy without the fear of fires, loud noises, and to create this place for all to gather safely and partake in the beauty of our community. This is a commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and community engagement which sets the event apart from traditional fireworks displays,” says Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez.
