Councilwoman Rodriguez Expands Microenterprise Grants to Support Small Businesses
Citywide Initiative Helps Small Business Owners Deter Crime by Funding Critical Security Improvements
LOS ANGELES, CA – Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and the Economic & Workforce Development Department (EWDD) announce the expansion of Round 3 of the City’s Microenterprise Grant Program, which now includes dedicated funding to help small business owners install security enhancements aimed at deterring crime and assisting law enforcement investigations. The grant application period is open until December 8, 2025.
“The Small Business Security component of the Microenterprise Grant Program ensures the safety and longevity of small businesses in Los Angeles by equipping business owners with the tools to protect both their livelihoods and the neighborhoods they serve,” said Councilwoman
Monica Rodriguez. “I’m proud to have secured this funding with the Economic & Workforce Development Department to help safeguard the small businesses that drive our local economy.”
“This partnership with the Councilwoman will provide relief to businesses still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to funds covering the cost of security upgrades, funds can also cover rent or lease payments, outstanding expenses, technology and digital commerce
expenses,” said Fred Jackson, Interim General Manager of EWDD. My hope is these funds can revitalize the businesses in communities throughout the City.”
The expansion of the Microenterprise Grant Program will provide up to $15,000 to eligible microenterprises located in the City of Los Angeles that need financial assistance to aid in their recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds can be used for the installation of security cameras, lighting, alarm systems, and other protective measures. By helping offset the cost of these crucial improvements, the City aims to enhance community safety, reduce property crimes, and support business recovery across Los Angeles.
