LOS ANGELES, CA – Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez issued the following statement after
the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) released its latest homeless count
numbers:
“Today’s numbers underscore what I’ve been saying for years: we will not solve the
homelessness crisis without accountability, transparency, and a system that delivers real
progress.
“I called for fundamental reforms to our homelessness response in 2024 because it was clear
LAHSA’s fragmented structure was failing Angelenos. Instead of advancing those reforms,
Nithya Raman, Chair of the Housing and Homelessness Committee, obstructed advancing any
reform for the preservation of the status quo.
“Until Los Angeles commits to a homelessness response built on direct oversight, clear
accountability, and measurable outcomes, we should not expect different results.”
