I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to join two community events that honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. First, I attended @thelafed Annual MLK Day Breakfast to reflect on our continued work to protect civil rights and uplift our most vulnerable communities. I also joined the @bgcsfv celebration to highlight the importance of investing in our youth. Thank you to the organizers, leaders, and community members who continue to honor Dr. King’s legacy! His legacy is more important than ever as we are seeing fundamental American values of due process and rule of law being eroded as the ICE raids march on.

Street improvements are happening in Pacoima! 🚧✨
Large asphalt repairs were recently completed on Laurel Canyon Blvd and Van Nuys Blvd, part of our continued investment in neighborhood infrastructure. After the rain, many of our streets are compromised and need repairs, when you see a pothole please report the location to 3-1-1. Shoutout to @bsslosangeles and @lacitydpw for their work in keeping our streets moving safely.

A year since the fires, after experiencing mass devastation and trauma, we have seen incredible resilience and strength.

As we continue rebuilding together, true accountability must be at the heart of our recovery.

I will continue to have the difficult conversations that hold our city accountable, because Angelenos deserve no less.

Día de los Reyes is a meaningful tradition that brings families together to celebrate faith, culture, and the joy of giving. Sharing a Rosca de Reyes is more than enjoying a sweet bread. It is a moment of connection and tradition that has been passed down through generations.

This year is especially meaningful as El Milagro celebrates 25 years of serving our community. This beloved local bakery has become a true gem in our district by supporting families, creating jobs, and strengthening our local economy. I am proud to support a small business that continues to bring people together and help our community shine. 💛🎉

Breaking ground on a safer future. 🚸 We recently marked the start of a new pedestrian beacon in front of Vinedale Elementary on La Tuna Canyon. This improvement will help slow traffic, reduce speeding, and create safer crossings for students, families, and neighbors. Nearly 20 beacons have been installed since I’ve taken office, which is only one tool of many we’ve added to the streets of CD7, investing over $125 million in pedestrian safety alone since 2017. We are eager to see this project come to fruition and will share regular updates as construction progresses.

Estamos construyendo un futuro más seguro. 🚸 Recientemente, dimos inicio a la instalación de una nueva señalización peatonal frente a la Escuela Primaria Vinedale en La Tuna Canyon. Esta mejora ayudará a reducir la velocidad del tráfico y a crear cruces más seguros para estudiantes, familias y vecinos. Casi 20 señales peatonales han sido instaladas desde que asumí el cargo, lo cual representa solo una solución que hemos agregado a las calles de CD7, invirtiendo más de $125M sólo en mejoras peatonales. Esperamos con entusiasmo la finalización de este proyecto y compartiré las novedades a medida que avancen las obras.
