This week, Council is back in session and I’m sharing updates on my work to eliminate illegal fireworks with stronger penalties and smarter enforcement, and to support small businesses by streamlining restaurant inspections and limiting excessive delivery app fees.

Yesterday, I joined LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell and community members at the Latino Forum hosted at @lamissioncollege to talk about the challenges our Latino communities are facing.

With recent federal immigration enforcement, many families are feeling scared and uncertain, making it harder for them to trust those who are meant to keep them safe. Forums like this give us a space for honest conversations, help rebuild trust, and work toward safer, stronger neighborhoods.

I’m committed to working alongside our community and law enforcement to make sure everyone feels protected, valued, and heard. For a list of local resources for immigrants visit the link in bio.

In partnership with West Valley Homes Yes, a homeless individual in Sylmar was successfully moved into stable housing and another RV was removed from our streets.

This effort is part of my RV to Home Program which has successfully housed 258 individuals and removed 134 RV’s to date from Council District 7 neighborhoods.

Team MRod joined the Perez Family in the Grand Opening of their business @mouldinghills in Sylmar. Mr. Abel Perez has been in the home furnishing business for over 20 years and together with his three daughters Sonia, Alejandra, and Elsa and wife Baudelia opened their own business recently. I created Operation Bright S.P.O.T (OBS) to help beautify our commercial corridors, support small businesses, and tackle blight quickly! Recently, OBS removed overgrown weeds/vegetation in North Hills beautifying our community.

I am proud to announce the completion of our new installation of bike lane bollards on Foothill Boulevard. We partnered with the Department of Transportation to secure over 2 miles of bollards stretching from Balboa Blvd. to Cambria Way creating a safe path to ride bikes or take a nice stroll in your community. Let’s stay safe CD7!

I was honored to join fellow Latino leaders from across the country at the @naleoedfund annual conference to share lessons from Los Angeles on how we’re responding to immigration enforcement.

As the daughter of immigrants, this work is deeply personal and with many cities across the country being impacted by these raids, we must all come together to share how to best protect and support our communities.

Additionally, we partnered with @ladotofficial & @lacitysan signs were repaired and an illegal dumping sign was installed at another location in Lake View Terrace.
